Community Helper – Postman
Jan 24th, 2008 by admin
This month, for Urjit’s class they have the topic as Community Helpers and all the kids were to play the role of one community helper and My son chose Postman. I think they were also taken to a post office and they interacted with the postman and the postmaster. So as told by their teacher, I got his dress ready, a khaki color uniform and the teacher had asked me to make him learn a few sentences about postman which they have to say in the school. So I wrote down a few lines and the D-Day was yesterday, 23rd Jan. So tuesday evening when he came back, he was so eager to play Dora Games, water the plants, gardening game ( as this sunday we both had planted some seeds, which he had got from kew Gardens, London). So when I told him that he has to first learn the postman speech, he became sad and after reading the lines for 2-3 times, he became more irritated. So I was like.. Ok you say whatever you know about the postman.
Yes, whoever is reading the post, please pay attention and listen to what my son has to say about the postman:

“Hello Friends,
My name is Urjit. Today I am going to tell you what a postman doooooos.
A postman is a community helper who sends ( I corrected, brings) letters to homes and offices.
The postman has a bag and he puts letters in that bag and give it to..
your mother, your father, your daughter, your son, your grandparent,
your grandchild, your husband, your lover, your wife”
And he was out of words.Well let me tell you that last week, he was learning a poem on Soldiers maybe for the republic day programme.. which was something like this..You see them on TV,
You see them in magazine,
You see them as a father, as a mother, as a sister, as a grandchild,
as a husband, as a lover, as a wife, as a friend,
BUT I see them as a HERO.
So Urjit picked up the lines from this poem and let the postman deliver the letters to all the people in that list.. and finally he was running out of words.. so after thinking for a while…he added ( all this time I had made a very strict face as I wanted him to learn.. but after hearing the next lines, I could not control my laugh) .. he continued….

“ The postman delivers letter to my nani, to my nanu,
to my bua, to my jiten uncle (his bua’s husband),
to my mummy and papa… and also to my dada and dadi.Thank You!! “
